This is my plate for you

What will happen if a person, who is on the run almost every passing day, gets to be idle for some time, all of a sudden? He/she might eat, sleep, sing, watch television and perhaps even write. At least that’s what I did. Looking back at my life (college life especially), I am wondering if I, in my attempt to be a jack of several trades and master them, have become a jackass instead! Well, let’s see studies, singing, Japanese, theatre, internships and projects; I have them on my plate; I wanted to master all of them even, the inspiration being some of my friends who have done that successfully and my mom herself. But there have been times when I’ve felt the brunt of heaviness, when my plate was at the verge of breaking and when I’ve felt like screaming. Times like those made me ponder over what I wanted to do in life! Ok, there are these things like earning a good name, making parents proud, et.al and perhaps they’d sound clichéd. So apart from these, I wanted to go around the world visiting every country possible. Why then do I have all these dishes on my plate? Well, because I am hoping that someday, at least one of the dishes would help me realize my dream. With crossed fingers, I’d like to say that THIS is my plate for you.

  4. Hai sweetheart, don mess with the plate like a pigsty. Turbulence caused by ripples of twenties will settle down if u r focused. Relish and try whatever comes to your plate as those given by god. confusions are early signs of clarity. By the way don go for junk. This is always mom's advice.

  6. Ha, the plate sure looks alluring. I'd like a bite of everything, please!

Always remember - whatever you do or don't do - No regrets! :) And no "what could've been" and no "if only". Take up everything - but never leave anything half done.

Ah, the plate's partly covered. More posts, please! :)

  8. We must always remember that possessions have no inherent value.
They become what we make them. If they increase our capacity
to give, they become something good. If they increase our focus
on ourselves and become standards by which we measure
other people, they become something bad.
When we seek a possession, we should ask ourselves if it will make us better people, more able to share, more willing to give, more capable of doing good in our daily lives. Possessions that increase our own sense of self-importance are empty in comparison to those that help us contribute something of value to the world.

  10. I always felt my college life was a safe sandbox, you can try out a lot of things, wear lots of hats and fail without getting hurt.. Its a mini life.. Go ahead, do all that you wanted to venture into and after that probably you would find the purpose in your life..
The amazing friends you earn and the lessons you learn in this mini life, would come a long way.

  12. Being a "jackass" is fun. Being a jack of all trades is akin to experimenting with whatever we really like doing. And as far as the dishes are concerned, there has to be one which should taste better than the rest. :P
